The Disney Tag

Thursday, August 17, 2017 / 12:17 AM

I meant for this week's blog post to be a Dear Evan Hansen reflection, but a combination of family obligations plus crashing on a few projects with tight deadlines has resulted instead in – you guessed it – another tag/list.

I'd say "oops," but it's my blog so I suppose I can do whatever I want on it :) So this week: the Disney tag! (Note: I'm excluding Pixar films from this.)

1. A scene in any Disney movie you wish you could experience.
The lantern scene from Tangled.

2. An unforgettable experience/moment you've had at the parks.

3. What non-Disney song(s) reminds you/brings back memories of Disney and/or the parks?
The Rocky theme song because it reminds me of that scene from Step by Step where Flash is aiming to break that world record by riding every ride in Disney World in a certain amount of time, and the theme plays at the end of the episode as he's making his triumphant finish.

Or one of the songs my choir did senior year in high school when we went to that competition down in Anaheim and had a Disney day...

4. When was the first time you went to a Disney park?
As a baby, as the photos my parents have at home show. The first time I remember going to the park...I want to say I was 4 or 5?

5. If you could choose any Disney character to be your best friend, who would you choose?
Lilo. She's such a little weirdo, we probably would've gotten along well as kids.

6. Who are you favorite Disney princesses?
Belle, (almost) no contest. She was the first "princess" I saw who I felt like I could really aspire to be someday: an independent woman who loves to read and can make friends with just about anyone/thing.

7. Name a scene/moment in any Disney movie that never fails to make you cry.
The end of Frozen. You know what I'm talking about.

8. What is the first Disney movie you remember seeing?
At home: Snow White; in the theater: Lion King.

9. What is your favorite Disney movie?
Either Beauty & the Beast or Lilo & Stitch.

10. Who is your favorite Disney villain?
Ursula, because she has a killer villain song.

11. What is your least favorite Disney movie?
Probably Pinocchio because it kind of scares the crap out of me.

12. What is your favorite Disney song?
Is there even a debate? "I'll Make a Man Out of You," of course.

13. What Disney Character (s) has your personality or has your dream personality?
The personality I have: Wendy Darling – the more serious one with an attachment to her childhood.

14. If you could change any scene in a Disney movie, what would it be and why?
Not a scene I would change, but would add to: I feel like something was missing in Moana between Maui abandoning Moana and returning. We just have to assume he had a change of heart off-screen, and it felt like too quick of a turn. (I also would've cut out the pirate ship attack because it felt...excessive.)

15. If you had to get stuck on any ride in any Disney park for more than 30 minutes, what would you want it to be?
Jungle Cruise, because you're sitting on a shaded boat with a punny "guide." What could be terrible about that?
