Favorites: July 2017
Sunday, August 6, 2017 / 5:12 PMIn between crying over Dear Evan Hansen and catching up on my YouTube sub box, July passed by in such a blur. I'm trying to focus these "favorites" list on products and keep the entertainment (podcasts, shows, music, book) to a "what I'm listening to/watching/reading" section at the end. Not a perfect structure to these lists so far, but who needs perfect? ;)
1. A French Kiss Bubble Bar by Lush
Y'all know I love me some lavender – and this bubble bar doesn't disappoint. I had never used a bubble bar before, but watching it crumble and form the bubbles for a luscious purple bath is addictive. The scent is wonderful and relaxing and it doesn't leave an annoying color stain on the tub like I was worried it might.
I've been disappointed by the Seche Vite top coat I bought, so I switched to OPI, which has never really let me down before with past polish formulas. This top coat hasn't let me down so far in the weeks I've been using it. The only chips I've gotten in my nails have been due to my own fault (the chip on my right index finger comes from trying to open a jammed container), so so far, I'm a fan.
3. blendercleanser solid by beautyblender
I'd only used the liquid blendercleanser before, but I took a chance on the solid after reading a Buzzfeed post on what cleans a beautyblender best. This solid cleanser surprised me: it cleans the sponge SO well, and it's so much easier to travel with.
4. Giggle Red by Jump from Paper
My parents got me this from Taiwan at the OG store earlier this year on their trip, and I can't believe I haven't put it in a favorites list yet! It's adorable and makes a bold statement. My only complaint is I can't put too much in it (and you know I travel with every "just in case" item in the world), but for a quick meal out, it's not a bad accessory.
5. Brush It Off Cleansing Brush Wipes by Sephora
I've been taking these on my travels when I hadn't wanted to check in a bag and my brush cleanser is too large to take on the plane. It's actually a really handy alternative to the spray cleanser I use, and it does the job I need it to do. Obviously, it shouldn't be a substitute for your brush cleaning rituals because it is a bit wasteful, but it's nice to have on-the-go, IMO.
What's I'm listening to on repeat: (I've switched from Spotify to Google Play Music, by the way, because I just remembered my YouTube Red subscription gives me free access, and really: it's just as good!):
- Dear Evan Hansen OST – yes, still! I wrote about seeing the show a couple weeks ago, and I've got another post coming one of these days and exactly why it resonated so much.
- The live recording on the deluxe edition of No Place in Heaven of MIKA with L'orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. If you've never heard anything MIKA's done except for "Grace Kelly," these are the tracks to hear. The beauty of each song, arranged for an orchestra, is stunning paired with his vocals.
What I've been watching:
- The Great British Bake-Off on Netflix
- Younger on TVLand
- The Bold Type on Freeform
