It's been marketed as the perfect red for all skin tones, and speaking as someone who's had trouble finding the "perfect red," I can vouch for this lip paint. It isn't too bright of a red, nor does it come out too orange-y, like a lot of reds do on me. I've also heard from some people who find the applicator weird, but I actually like it a lot. The long handle gives a lot of control (it reminds me of those Louboutin nail polishes) and you get a lot of product on one dip (although that might have something to do with the formula itself).
The problem I have with this, though, is that it's kind of a mess. It gets on anything you're eating or drinking, and yet the color stays on my lips – which also makes it hard to take off.
2. Hangover Replenishing Face Primer by Too Faced
This is hydrating without feeling greasy, and it smells like coconut. What's not to love? I've been struggling to find the right primer that can save my skin in the winter while also keeping my foundation and makeup in place, and this seems to be the winner.
3. Milky Jelly Cleanser by Glossier
Glossier is one of those brands I've been wanting to try, but have also been a bit intimidated by. I keep missing chances to drop by the Glossier location in New York City, so when the Black Friday sale rolled around, I decided to give one product a go before jumping into more.
The Milky Jelly Cleanser is said to be able to remove even the toughest of makeup, and since I've been looking for ways to reduce waste this year, I thought I'd give this a shot. It works pretty well, but I still use a second cleanser as part of my nighttime ritual anyways – and that combo works well for taking off my makeup.
I also love that this smells like rose and it leaves my skin feeling really soft. I'd highly recommend this, and I'll be getting into more Glossier products in 2018.
4. Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay
I'm a Naked palette addict, but I wasn't sure about the Heat Palette for the longest time – partly because I have too many palettes (and a few of those are regrets...if you followed my purge on my Instagram Story recently, you'll know what I'm talking about).
But then once it hit autumn, I started getting palette envy when I saw so many great looks from beauty vloggers with the palette. And then Kristen got it for her birthday, so we swatched it one night and I was sold.
I love this palette because it has great transition shades and deep autumn-y tones (that are still good even with it being past the season!). The one thing I do wish it had was a brighter shimmer shade for that inner-corner highlight, but it's not a deal-breaker for me.
5. Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer (Light-Medium) by Tarte
This has been a cult favorite for the past year, but it's an Ulta exclusive and I only recently started shopping there.
All of the hype around it? Absolutely worth it. It gives full coverage and makes the areas under my skin brighter with just one dab. It seriously works like a dream without feeling heavy. My go-to concealer for the past few years has been a drugstore one, and I'll still carry it around in my bag, but the Shape Tape is great to start the day off with.
Watch this:
- Another thing worth the hype? Lady Bird. It's a must-see, especially if you grew up in Sacramento...
